Widely revered the world over, Serengeti is among the top safari destinations in Africa and Tanzania’s most visited attraction. The Serengeti, where most people spend the majority of their time on northern Tanzania safari, is justifiably famous for its huge concentrations of game, especially predators, and of course the migration all year round.

Over three million large game animals inhabit these rolling grasslands, known as the ‘endless plains’. Here one can witness the unique migration of almost 1.5 million wildebeest as they undertake a circuit of 600 miles in search of new pastures, from the central plains to the permanent water holes at the park corridors. About 35 species of plain animals can be observed including the ‘big five’ – elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, buffalos – and large herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra.

Huge expanses of short grass plains make game viewing exceptionally good. There are 4 main regions – the North, the Western corridor, the Central Serengeti and the Ndutu Plains.
