The Conservation Area covers over 8,000 square kilometres and at its heart is the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact and unflooded volcanic caldera. This great natural spectacle is home to almost 30,000 animals. About 20 kilometres across with 600-metre-high walls, it provides an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest populations of large mammals.
Ngorongoro Crater is famous for viewing black rhinos, elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, monkeys and ever hungry predators including lions and hyenas.
