Tour Plan

JAMBO! Karibu Tanzania

This morning a member of Quest Holidays DMC will meet at your Arusha Hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport. After a short briefing on the events ahead, meet your safari guide and depart for Tarangire National Park, where open grasslands, acacia trees and the Tarangire River paint the wild landscape. Arrive and embark on a game viewing drive en route to your lodge or tented camp for lunch. After lunch, relax at leisure and absorb the surroundings. You will have an afternoon game drive until sunset.

Tarangire offers abundant game viewing including the largest population of elephant in the country. Lions, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and wildebeest can often be seen. The park is a paradise for bird watching enthusiasts with well over 450 species having been recorded.

Today you will have morning and afternoon game drives as the animals tend to be more active in the cooler hours of the day. The Tarangire River, from which the park derives its name, flows through the northern part of Tarangire in to the vast swamps in the south which dry to green plains during the dry season. The river attracts thirsty animals from other areas and it creates distinct safari experiences dependent on the seasons. The dry season, (July to October) sees large herds of buffalo, elephants, zebra, wildebeest and impala congregate along the riverbanks in search of water, with lions and cheetahs the nearby predators. This is the best time of year for game viewing, as from November to May much of the game disperses as the wildebeest and zebra head north.

Here, tens of thousands of hoofed animals roam in a constant and unremitting search for the fresh grasslands upon which their survival depends. Arrive for lunch followed by afternoon game viewing drive until dusk.

It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes including the abundant impalas and Thomson's gazelles. As for Big Cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous river crossings having been filmed in this park. Smaller animals like foxes, mongoose, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, rock hyrax and African hares, together with more than 500 species of birds, also inhabit this park.
