Mandatory Travel insurance for Kenya

Travel-insurance

Kenya has now built mandatory travel health insurance into its ETA process. Here is what you need to know to keep your clients’ journeys running smoothly.

What’s Changed

  • Effective immediately, insurance is built into all new ETA applications. Applicants cannot complete the ETA without it.
  • Who it applies to: Foreign visitors staying less than 12 months, at all points of entry (air, land and water). EAC citizens are exempt.

Key Details

  • Cost: The premium is US$44 per traveller, plus additional charges.
  • Cover period: Quotes currently show three months.
  • Existing policies: There is currently no option to upload cover bought independently.
  • Policies can be purchased here.
  • This mandatory insurance should be taken out in addition to comprehensive personal travel insurance.

How Your Clients Can Get Covered

  • During the ETA application: Insurance is purchased as part of the process.
  • In advance: It can also be bought separately via eCitizen and is automatically detected when the ETA is submitted.
